The difference between debtor and creditor

The accounting entry consists of two parties, a debit party and a credit party

The difference between them is simple and easy:

A debtor is the one who takes , meaning it is a creditor who is the giving party, meaning him, and so on. In other words, the creditor is the one who has the right and the debtor is the one who has the right.

The debtor is legally the one who has the right to repay the debt to the debtor. For example, you borrowed an amount from the bank, and in this case you owe it, meaning you owe the price of the loan to the bank.

The creditor is the owner of the right that was given to the debtor party, for example, the bank lent you, in this case the bank is a creditor to you and so on because it gave you the money.

A creditor or debtor may be a person, institution, or legal person, and the debtor is the opposite of the creditor, but they are related to each other.
